IMAGO RELATIONSHIP THERAPY - So many of us find ourselves in relationships without the skills to make them what we want. Few of us were ever taught relationship skills, so we learn as we go. The Imago method is all about learning: How to be a better partner, How to be more loving, How to let go of the influences of the past, How to resolve those repetitive arguments, How to be happy in a partnership. I work with couples who are willing to make a commitment to this very useful and intense model. It requires a willingness to give up “being right”, to dig deep into your beliefs, and to work at changes between therapy sessions.
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY - Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some initial impressions of what our work might include, along with an initial treatment plan to follow.
There are a number of different approaches that can be utilized to address the problems you hope to work on. Psychotherapy requires your very active involvement in order to move the process along, and I value your ideas and your input into the process we create.
SEX THERAPY - I have many years of experience working with both individuals and couples on issues relating to sex and intimacy. I fully appreciate both the vulnerability and the importance of dealing with issues pertaining to sexuality and physical functioning. I have worked for several years as a sex educator with men’s groups. I have worked successfully with both men and women who have learned to communicate to their partners their deepest desires. I believe wholeheartedly in the compelling value that sex and intimacy has for many of us, and am prepared to help you achieve greater pleasure and fulfillment.
PSYCHOTHERAPY has both benefits and risks. Risks sometimes include experiencing uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, anger and frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. Psychotherapy often requires discussing unpleasant or embarrassing aspects of your life. Psychotherapy has also, of course, been shown to have many benefits for people who undertake it. Therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feelings of distress, better relationships, and resolution of specific problems.
